To raise awareness of the YouTube app’s Offline feature among data-conscious Indonesians, we created YouTube pre-rolls that captured attention by using the platform in a new way. Instead of being served a random pre-roll, our ads opened on the video that the viewer was about to watch.

Our audience didn’t even know they were watching a pre-roll until seconds later when we revealed their video was actually playing on someone else’s phone. It was an innovative way to deliver our campaign message: There’s a smarter way to watch YouTube when you’re worried about data.
